Certainty for your mental wellness

I don’t know about you but I really feel like that 7 year old in the back of the car on a trip home from the West of Ireland. “Are we nearly there” Will we wont we….life is so uncertain at the moment. Certainty is out the window. Some people don’t know even when the next job or job opportunity is coming. Can we find happiness while being so unsure. Can life coaching help hone in on our ability to feel hopeful and joyous?

Certainty is deem one of 6 basic human psychological needs along with;

  1. Certainty
  2. Uncertainty (spontaneity)
  3. Significance
  4. Connection
  5. Growth
  6. Contribution

As we navigate this bumpy journey together we would do well to understand that the more we can be uncertain the more we will thrive.

So how do we do that? Well firstly we need to look at our circumstances and understand what needs yo happen. There’s a coaching tool I love called CIA.

  • C; Control, what can I take control of in this situation?
  • I; Influence, what can I influence in this situation? What can I maybe change or alter
  • A; Accept. What about this situation do I need to just accept?

Even if the C & the I are only small, it will help you to feel like you’ve done something to more towards certainty!
